Important Things to Know Before Entering the X-ray Room
Remove metal objects – Take off jewelry, watches, belts, or other metal items that may interfere with the X-ray image.
Tell the radiologic technologist if you are pregnant or might be pregnant – This is important so they can take appropriate precautions.
Follow the technologist’s instructions – You may be asked to stand, sit, or lie in a specific position and remain still during the X-ray.
You may need to wear a hospital gown – Depending on the body part being examined, clothing may need to be removed if it could affect the image.
Stay still and don’t be afraid – X-rays are generally quick and painless. The technologist will guide you throughout the procedure.
